HYPERTENSION

The heat circulates the blood in the body through arteries. When the blood gets into the arteries, their walls also help in blood circulation by exerting pressure. Sometime the walls of the arteries thicken up and lose their flexibility. Under such circulation of blood. This extra force or pressure is known as  blood  pressure.
 Hazards : High blood pressure can lead to heart attack, arresting of heart, paralysis of the brain, failure of kidneys, problems of eyesight and even death.

Symptoms Of High Blood Pressure : Headache, nausea, giddiness, exhaustion, general body – aches and pain, increase in palpitation of the head and heart and pulse rate. Often blood pressure in itself does not show any symptoms. If one develops blood pressure up of heart, eyes and kidneys, especially if there is a family history of the disease or if you are living in stressful conditions.

Causes of Hypertension : Disorders of kidneys, emotional stress, hectic lifestyle, loss of peace, hereditary factors, obesity, excessive smoking and drinking.

 Patients of hypertension should take proper treatment as suggested by the physician and should take regular diet and exercise. The diet should not only be regular, but also controlled and with limited salt intake. Yogic exercise, e.g., shavasan is beneficial. Avoid stress, anger and anxiety and lead a peaceful Life. After the age of 35 one should have periodical check – up of  blood pressure. Sleep for full nine hours during the night. Have a nap during the day after lunch. To lower high blood pressure limit the intake of salt from ½ gm. in a day. Take plenty of water. Do not take intoxicants.

Treatment

The patients of high blood pressure should keep the bowels clear. For this, they should regularly take lemon water, isabgol, amla juice, moong sprouts, moth, gram and salad.

Fasting : It is good for patients of high blood pressure. They should observe fast once a week. During the fast, they should take fruit and vegetable juices.

 Tobacco coffee, tea, non – vegetable food are harmful to patients of high blood pressure.

Shavasana : Lie down straight on your back. Keep the arms and legs  straight and the heels joined. Close the eyes and let the body relax completely. Stop  thinking. Stop  thinking. Concentrate on breathing and breathe slowly. It will give  peace and relaxation within five minutes.

Bottle gourd : Half cup of juice of bottle gourd mixed with a little water should be taken thrice a day regularly. It will be beneficial.

Banana : The juice of the stem of banana plant (½ cup ) taken twice a day cures high blood pressure.

Lemon : It has special virtues which can strengthen the heart. Its regular use makes the blood arteries flexible and soft and they lose their stiffness. Therefore, lemon is beneficial for patients of hypertension. The heart remains strong till old age and there is no risk for heart failure. Whatever the type of blood pressure, taking lemon in water several times a day is useful. In the morning, it is beneficial to take lemon juice in warm water.
Apple : It is beneficial to eat apples in hypertension.

Papaya : It is highly effective in hypertension. The patient should eat a papaya every day  in the morning. It will soon check hypertension.

Mint leaves : (1) It regulates both high and low blood pressure. Therefore, it should be used be used every day in the form of chutney or juice. The patients should use mint leaves without adding salt or sugar.
(2) The patients of hypotension can take mint leaves chutney with rock salt, black pepper and raisins.
Tomato : It lowers high blood pressure.

Amla : Taking amla pressure every day in the morning is useful in hypertension and heat of the blood. It is a blood purifier.

Long cucumber : It has a great deal of potassium. Its juice is useful both in low and high blood pressure.

Potato : It normalizes the blood pressure.  Boil potatoes in water with salt added to it. Because of the peel the potatoes do not absorb much salt. But it becomes a tasty food item. It is useful in high blood pressure.
Petha : It prevents hypertension.

Arbi : It lower high blood pressure.

Tinda : It lowers high blood pressure. It is diuretic.

Rice : prolonged use of rice reduces cholesterol levels. It also cures hypertension.

Massage : Regular massage of the body improves the condition  of a hypertensive patient.

Water- melon: The juice of the seeds of water – melon contains an element known as kurkur bosytrine which broadens the captains. It acts on the kidneys and thereby lowers the blood pressure. Grind water – melon seeds and put them in a cup of boiling water and let them soak for an hour. Then strain in, strain and drink. Take does daily. Water –melon juice is also beneficial.

Carrots : 310 ml. of carrot juice mixed with 125 ml. of spinach juice daily cures the problem of blood pressure.

Garlic :6 drop of garlic juice mixed in 3 tsp. of water taken four times every day is useful. Eating raw garlic after meals  cures hypertension. The juice of garlic leaves mixed in water is more useful. As you get better, reduce the dose.

Chaulai : Its juice is beneficial for hypertensive patients. It can also be eaten as a cooked vegetable.

Butter milk : It is beneficial in both high and low blood pressures.

Henna : Hypertensive patients get relief by the periodic application of henna paste on hands and feet.

Honey : It has a favourable effect on the human body, reduces the hyper activity of arteries and lowers blood pressure.

Neem : 25 ml. of neem juice every morning is beneficial for patients of hypertension.

Triphala : Soak overnight 2 tsp. of triphala powder and 30 gms. of sugar candy pot. Strain it the following morning and drink. It is beneficial in hypertension.

Rudraksha : Wearing five – faced rudraksha is beneficial.

 The use of butter milk with asafoetida is beneficial in Hypotension. Mix a small quantity of salt also.
