Lemon: If your digestive system does not function well, the food does get digested, you feel heaviness and a  pressure on the heart because of flatulence, the stomach distends and you don’t’ get sleep at night, squeeze a lemon in a glass of warm water and drink it. Several times in a day. It will cleanse the digestive system. All the poisonous substances in the blood and the body are excreted through the urine. You will begin to feel that you have gained a fresh energy and agility. In case of indigestion smear a piece of lemon with salt, heat it and suck it. It will improve digestion. Lemon is useful in all the diseases of the liver.

Orange: Those who have a bad digestive system should mix one part orange juice with three parts water and take it daily.

Mint leaves: Mint leaves are beneficial in many diseases of the stomach. Therefore, mint leaves should be used daily in one form or the other.

Spinach: The juice of raw spinach relieves constipation in a few days. It is useful as a vegetable in the diseases of the intestines. Spinach in sufficient mixed with bathua is also beneficial in constipation. Take spinach in sufficient quantity for some days. It will be beneficial in several diseases of the stomach.

Ginger: (1) Cut 6 gms. of ginger into small pieces, add a little salt and rat it before meals. If it is taken for ten days, it will improve the digestive system, sharpen the appetite, will relieve flatulence and constipation, improve the taste and you will begin to like your food. It will also cleanse the mucous in the throat.

(2)Grind dry ginger and caraway seeds and soak in lemon juice. Then dry it in shade and mix a little salt. Take a gram each in the morning and evening with water. It provides relief from digestive disorders, stomachache.

(3) Grind dry ginger, asafoetida and black salt and prepare a powder. Its use expels gas from the stomach.

(4) Fry ginger piece in clarified butter, add salt to taste and take it twice daily. It is beneficial in flatulence and indigestion. It cures common ailments of the stomach.’

(5) Take a tsp. of ginger juice in ¼ cup of water. It is beneficial in every type of disease f digestive system. Whenever the stomach is upset, take ginger.

(6) Cut ginger into small pieces, wrap them in a betel leaf as you do with betel nut pieces. Also pierce a clove in a way that the ginger pieces do not fall out. Immerse the betel leaf in lemon juice for twenty days. Add salt to lemon juice to taste. Take a paan daily after meals. It will help in the digestion of food and improve the digestive system in general.
